The 420CHIP/m Digital COB RGB strip light from ElisaLED integrates 420 flip-chips per meter directly onto a flexible circuit board, controlled by the JD36703A IC via SPI protocol at DC24V. 13.5W/m run with 10mm PCB width, and 100mm cut interval gives a continuous, dot free stream of light with the ability to address each pixel individually. Available in IP20, IP65 and IP68 grades it has been designed for commercial and architectural applications requiring smooth, customisable colour effects.

Most COB strips are non-addressable fixed light. The device uses Chip-on-Board construction together with a JD36703A SPI-protocol controller which gives you the smooth, dot-free output of COB and the individual pixel control of a digital strip, all in one package.
This results in pixelated transitions and apparent hot spots on traditional SMD-based digital strips, particularly when seen from a short distance. The colour mixing occurs with a very short pitch, 420 flip-chips/m, resulting in animations and gradient effects with transitions that are clearly seamless.

The beam angle is 180°, dispersing light across a large region, without the need of a secondary diffuser to remove apparent dots.
Each colour channel has 256 shades of grey, which gives the controller very precise control over transitions and colour mixing. The SPI protocol is compatible with DMX512 systems when used with a DMX to SPI decoder, enabling the strip to be used inside professional AV and architectural control contexts.
It has a minimum bend radius of 20mm ideal for curved profiles, vaulted ceilings and installations with tight radii. The heat dissipation is more uniformly spread across the substrate, since the chips are directly placed on the PCB, rather than being individually soldered like SMD packages. For versions exceeding 15W/m an aluminium profile should be used to achieve rated life duration.
The FPCB uses high-copper-weight traces to reduce resistance along the strip length. For runs longer than 5 meters, power injection at each reel junction is recommended to keep color uniformity consistent from start to end.
ElisaLED applies several testing protocols to this product before shipment.
Thermal cycling tests the FPCB and phosphor silicone coating from -40°C to 100°C, confirming structural integrity under real-world temperature shifts.
Signal integrity analysis verifies that IC communication across the full run shows no data dropping or flickering — a known risk in high-density digital strips with long cable runs.
Luminous flux retention is measured to IES LM-80 at 6000 hours. Chips are encased in a continuous silicone gel which protects against mechanical stress and oxidation .
For humid or outdoor locations, IP65 and IP68 versions are salt spray tested to assure copper trace oxidation resistance.

This strip is used for architectural contour lighting, mostly. The conventional SMD strips provide a continuous dot free output which might cause distracting hotspot patterns in interior spaces with reflecting or glossy surfaces.
The 420CHIP/m Digital COB RGB is ideal for retail display lighting for kinetic effects like chasing sequences, dynamic colour zones and directing light flows. At near viewing distances the high chip density creates seamless transitions instead of fragmented steps.
They are also used in automotive and marine interior trim. The COB encapsulation is more vibration resistant than normal SMD packaging, ensuring the chip is stable in installations that are constantly moving and subject to temperature variations.

ElisaLED also provides OEM and ODM services for this product line, spanning PCB design, IC selection, waterproofing, wiring and packaging.

Q: What is the difference between these four digital COB LED strips?
A:576LEDs/m Digital COB Dual Color offers addressable dual-white control. 360LEDs/m Digital COB RGB delivers addressable full-color effects. 784LEDs/m Digital COB RGBW adds a dedicated white channel. 840LEDs/m Digital COB RGBCCT combines addressable RGB with tunable warm and cool white.
Q: What is the advantage of Digital COB strips over standard COB strips?
A:Digital COB strips combine the dot-free illumination of COB with individually addressable pixel control, enabling programmable effects and animations without visible gaps between chips.
Q: What is the difference between Digital COB RGB, RGBW, and RGBCCT strips?
A:RGB produces addressable color effects only. RGBW adds a dedicated white channel for true white output. RGBCCT combines RGB with tunable warm and cool white, covering the widest range of lighting needs in a single strip.
Q: Which digital COB strip is best for tunable white applications?
A:The 576LEDs/m Digital COB Dual Color strip is the right choice for tunable white, offering addressable warm-to-cool white control with dot-free output.
Q: What should be considered before choosing a Digital COB LED strip?
A:Review IC type and protocol, LED density, voltage and power supply compatibility, color channel requirements, controller compatibility, refresh rate, IP rating, cut interval, and installation environment.
Q: Can I cut the product to any length?
A:It can be cut at the 100mm marked copper pad intervals. Cuts outside these points may damage the IC segment and interrupt pixel control for that section.
